以往一般一個設備外殼模具費高達十幾萬或幾十萬，開模具或一些簡單的模具雖然能完成復雜的設備外殼等機械配件，大批量加工周期只要十幾天，但是模具研發生產足足都得好幾個月，并需要重復修模、而且精度差。如今，已是信息化的時代，產品更新快，小批量生產已成為了鈑金加工的主流模式，在這種模式下，激光切割機的應用大大的節省了開模、二次加工的成本，縮短了生產周期，這是其它五金加工及模具沖壓不能實現的。據悉，鈑金行業在激光切割機的投入使用之后，每年為鈑金加工行業節省了上百億元資金。
